All local cemeteries in Trenton, Ontario possess a Cemetery Cairn. This particular cairn was constructed in 1972 in memory of all veterans laying in the cemetery. The monument was designed by Walter Gregory. The main worker on the project was Ken Wannamaker who also thought of a large wreath rack for the cairn. Cairns replaced the impractical grave markers which were often lost or relocated by gardeners. A dedication service is held on the first Sunday in June of each year. Canadian and British flags are flown and a wreath is laid. This design is also used in Thunder Bay.
