Royal Canadian Artillery Unit Crests

Ottawa, Ontario
Type
Other

This memorial displays the unit crests of the Royal Canadian Artillery. At the base of the bar, there is a series of five carved crests to represent the Royal Canadian Horse Artillery. They include: First Regiment Royal Canadian Horse Artillery, Second Regiment Royal Canadian Horse Artillery, Third Regiment Royal Canadian Horse Artillery, Fourth Regiment Royal Canadian Horse Artillery, and 5e Regiment Royal Canadian Horse Artillery.

The crests originate from the pews in the Deilinghofen church in Germany, and it appears there was not a sufficient quantity of crests to complete the bar. The original crests were complemented with the addition of these: Air Defence, Air OP, and 30th Field Artillery Regiment, RCA.

This memorial is dedicated to the honour of the Officers and Men of the Royal regiment of Canadian Artillery, and is located on the 2nd floor of the Army Officer's Mess in Ottawa.
