This bronze and brass plaque is dedicated to Lieutenant Colonel John Franklin Kidd, C.M.G., M.D., L.L.D. It was originally unveiled at the Ottawa Civic Hospital, Veterans’ Pavilion in 1944. In 1976, it was presented to the Canadian Forces Medical Services when the Veterans’ Pavilion was closed and later placed at the National Defence Medical Centre (NDMC), Veterans’ Wing. With the amalgamation of the NDMC Veterans’ Wing, the Rideau Veterans’ Health Hospital and the Perley Home, the bronze plaque was transferred to the newly formed Perley and Rideau Veterans’ Health Centre in 1996.

In memory of Lt. Colonel John Franklin Kidd, C.M.G., M.D, L.L.D., 1864 – 1933, R.C.A.M.C. In gratitude for distinguished services rendered overseas during the Great War and in care of veterans of the Ottawa area up to the time of his death.
In appreciation, The Hon. Ian A. MacKenzie, Minister, Department of Pensions and National Health, has placed this plaque at the opening of this Veterans’ Pavilion, 1944, A.D.

Presented to Canadian Forces Medical Services 15 December 1976 by Executive Director Ottawa Civic Hospital prior to demolition of the Veterans’ Pavilion as part of the hospital’s modernization program.
Transferred to Veterans’ Wing NDMC 15 June 1979 and dedicated by MGen (Retd) J.W.B. Barr, CMM, CD, QHP, Colonel Commandant Medical Branch.
