This plaque is one of 39 plaques unveiled in 2009 at Hylands Golf Club. The plaques commemorate former Ottawa-area military installations, a military patron saint, battle honours, ships, units, and squadrons.

HMCS HAIDA (G63/215) NCSM Haida

“Canada’s most famous warship,” HAIDA participated in North Russia convoy duties in 1943, and in 1944 played a role in the sinking of three enemy destroyers, a U-boat and several smaller vessels during operations in support of the invasion of Normandy. She also saw service in Korea and the Cold War. HAIDA is preserved in Hamilton, ON and is open to the public.

«Le navire de guerre le plus connu du Canada», NCSM Haida a participé aux tâches de convoi au nord de la Russie en 1943 et en 1944, il a participé aux opérations en appui à l’invasion de la Normandie qui ont permis de couler trois destroyers ennemis, un U-boot et plusieurs vaisseaux. Ce navire a également servi en Corée et au cours de la guerre froide. Le NCSM Haida est conservé à Hamilton, en Ontario et est ouvert au public.
