This memorial is dedicated to HMCS Rainbow.

This plaque is one of 39 plaques unveiled in 2009 at Hylands Golf Club. The plaques commemorate former Ottawa-area military installations, a military patron saint, battle honours, ships, units, and squadrons.

HMCS RAINBOW (CNJG) NCSM Rainbow

RAINBOW was the first ship commissioned into the RCN on 7 November 1910, three months after the founding of the navy. She carried out training, fisheries and ceremonial duties on the west coast early in her career and during the First World War she was the only defender of Canada’s Pacific coast.

Le navire Rainbow a été le premier navire mis en service dans la MRC le 7 novembre 1910, trois mois après la fondation de la marine. Le navire a servi à l’entraînement, aux pêches et aux fonctions officielles sur la côte du Pacifique du Canada.
