This memorial is dedicated to the Canadian victory at the Third Battle of Ypres, Passchendaele.

This plaque is one of 39 plaques unveiled in 2009 at Hylands Golf Club. The plaques commemorate former Ottawa-area military installations, a military patron saint, battle honours, ships, units, and squadrons.

Passchendaele

Officially named the Third Battel of Ypres, Passchendaele took place several kilometres north of the town of Ypres. The battle of Passchendaele began on 31 July 1917; the battle slogged on for months in appalling conditions with the Canadians seizing Passchendaele on 7 November.

Officiellement nommée la Troisième bataille d’Ypres, Passchendaele a eu lieu à quelques kilometres au nord de la ville de Ypres. La bataille de Passchendaele a commencé le 31 juillet et s’est prolongé pendant plusieurs mois dans des conditions invivables. Les Canadiens ont réussi à prendre Passchendaele le 7 novembre.
