This bronze plaque is dedicated to the memory of Lieutenant Colonel Henry Allan Bate. Henry Allan Bate was born on May 12, 1856. He served as commanding officer of the Governor General’s Foot Guards and was attaché to Prime Minister Sir Wilfrid Laurier. Henry Allan Bate died of pneumonia in Manhattan, New York on May 1, 1910. He was the Lieutenant-Colonel of the Governor General's Foot Guards.
