A silver bread box dedicated in memory of Private Ernest Albert Fryers of the 20th Battalion, who was killed in action on January 27, 1918, was donated by his parents at St. Mary the Virgin, 36 Westmoreland Avenue. The first St. Mary the Virgin, was located on the north-west corner of Bloor and Delaware until 1914, when a new building was erected on Westmoreland. In 1966, the amalgamated with St. Cyprian’s, Manning Avenue and formed St. Mary the Virgin & St. Cyprian’s which closed in 2002.
