On October 10, 1920, a tablet was unveiled honouring Simpson Avenue Methodist Church parishioners who served and parishioners who gave their lives in the First World War.
Simpson Avenue Methodist Church was founded in 1889 and was renamed as Simpson Avenue United Church in 1925 when the United Church of Canada was formed by Act of Parliament with the union of Congregational, Methodist, and the majority of Presbyterian Churches in Canada. In 1991 Simpson Ave. United amalgamated with Glen Rhodes United Church and the property was subsequently sold to the Metropolitan Community Church of Toronto.
