On September 9, 1923, a plaque was dedicated by Reverend Dr. G.H. Williams to the 20 members of the church who died in the First World War. It was unveiled by Lieutenant-Colonel A.H. Borden, DSO.
Metropolitan Methodist Church, known as the "Cathedral of Methodism" in Toronto, traces its roots to 1818. In 1925, it entered the United Church of Canada as Metropolitan United Church.
