Erected by officers and men from Canadian Forces Base Shilo, this memorial is dedicated to the memory of Captain G.J. Ross Flewin. It was unveiled on 5 June 1970.

THE OFFICERS AND MEN OF CANADIAN FORCES BASE SHILO, MANITOBA, DEDICATE THIS FIELD TO THE MEMORY OF CAPTAIN G.J. ROSS FLEWIN, C.D., R.C.A., WHO SERVED AT SHILO AS AN AIR O.P. PILOT WITH 2 AIR O.P. DET IN 1956 AND AS AN INSTRUCTOR GUNNERY WITH RCSA IN 1959. HE LOST HIS LIFE WHILE PILOTING A LIGHT AIRCRAFT ON A ROUTINE TRAINING FLIGHT ON 17 JANUARY 1964.
