The monument at Forrest is a popular gravemarker type that was, oddly, used for only a handful of war memorials – the simple and evocative column. This example gains additional dignity through its elevation on a broad stepped base. The use of an urn shape at the apex of the column was also a common design feature for this type of memorial. Texts are inscribed on the column shaft, and include nine names from the First World War and two from the Second World War.
Erected by the Forrest Community, this memorial is dedicated to the memory of those who paid the supreme sacrifice and served during the First and Second World Wars.
