The centre slab has engraved on the front the maple leaf of Canada, the crests for the navy, army, air force, and merchant navy, and inscribed “LEST WE FORGET / N’OUBLIONS JAMAIS”. On the back of the centre slab is the crest for the city of Brandon, and sprigs of wheat to represent the Wheat City.

The two outer slabs are inscribed in English and French (below) on the front, with the symbol of the poppy on the back.
