This memorial was unveiled on 9 November 1926 and it is dedicated to the memory of the local war dead of the First and Second World Wars. History of the cenotaph: At the close of the First World War, a supper was held to welcome back the men who returned and at a meeting held in the Hall, a committee was appointed to start a Memorial Park in memory of those who didn't return. W.J. Jackson, A. McEwen, and F.T. Hill were the committee. Land was purchased at the corner of Main and 3rd and a Cenotaph was built of local stone by the late Dan McColl. This park was opened and the monument unveiled by Col. J.A. Cross, Attorney General of Saskatchewan, on Nov. 9th, 1926. The speakers were Rev. A.J. Lewis, M.P. of Lawson, and Major George Emerson Francis, with Rev. J. Lyall as chairman. The local committee in charge for the day was Lt. W.C. Scott, 43rd Cameron Highlanders, Lance Corporal M. Lehman, 28th Battalion, and Private H.W. Ellerton, 44th Battalion. Mr. and Mrs. W.B. Bell held a reception in the evening. The local committee looked after the Park for several years and then turned it over to the Village, who in turn turned it over to the Legion.
