In 2015, the North Ridge Development Corp. held a contest to name their new townhouse construction in the 3200 block of 11th Street West. Dalton Males from Ortona Street won the contest with his suggestion of Highlander Ridge. The name honours the Seaforth Highlanders of Canada, a Vancouver-based infantry regiment that saw action in Sicily, Italy and the liberation of the Netherlands in the Second World War.

North Ridge named this neighbourhood development Highlander Ridge
to honour the Seaforth Highlanders of Canada. The Seaforth Highlanders
regiment was formed in 1910 and served overseas in both World War I and
World War II. Of particular significance was their involvement in liberating
the Netherlands during World War II. Members of the Seaforth Highlanders
have been deployed on many missions since World War II including Korea,
Egypt, Cyprus and most recently, Afghanistan. North Ridge is pleased to be
able to honour the Seaforth Highlanders of Canada to thank them for their
service to Canada.
