Details

On Indigenous Veterans Day, the City of Toronto honours the bravery of those who served through the First and Second World Wars, the Korean War, Afghanistan, peacekeeping missions around the world, and who continue to serve in the Canadian Armed Forces. The ceremony includes traditional ways of honouring warriors from First Nations, Métis, Inuit, as well as non-status Indigenous veterans who served.

Everyone is invited to participate in the ceremony. Her Excellency the Right Honourable Mary Simon, Governor General of Canada and Her Honour The Honourable Edith Dumont, Lieutenant Governor of Ontario are attending.

Young Spiritual Elder Noodjmowin will lead a Sacred Fire to welcome the ancestors, the warriors that have gone before us, and a Sharing Circle to honour and learn about those who have served and continue to serve.
