‘An evening of community and commemoration of the LGBT Purge.’

Solo Chicken Productions is honoured to announce that in Fredericton, NB on Tuesday April 29, 2025, we will be hosting a commemorative event before the opening night of the Atlantic Tour of our production Fruit Machine. The evening, hosted by Photojournalist, Activist, and LGBT Purge Survivor Diane (dee) Doiron and featuring an exhibition of Purge artifacts from The Queer Heritage Initiative, is in honour of LGBT Purge survivors.

The evening hopes to create space for survivors to gather and for audiences to learn more about a dark part of our history. Together we will commemorate the LGBT Purge and shine a light on this incredibly important part of our history.

Following the event Solo Chicken Productions will present the opening night of the tour of their groundbreaking physical theatre work Fruit Machine. Created and directed by artist Alex Rioux, featuring an all-queer cast and crew, and with a special introduction by Purge survivor Diane (Dee) Doiron, the production uses movement, projection, and text to interpret and investigate the LGBT Purge, a dark and often hidden chapter of Canadian history.
