Commemorative ceremony at the Canadian Airmen Memorial to mark the 81st anniversary of the Warsaw Uprising.

The Warsaw Uprising, also known as the August Uprising, was a major Second World War operation by the Polish underground resistance, the Home Army, to liberate Warsaw from German occupation. It occurred from August 1 to October 2, 1944. Despite initial successes, the aftermath was devastating, with large parts of Warsaw destroyed and many civilians killed.

This important event in Polish history is commemorated all over the country. It serves as a symbol of Polish resistance and courage during the Second World War.
