This street is named in memory of Lieutenant William Harold Baird, Royal Canadian Engineers.
William Harold Baird was born in 1914 in London, ON. Following the completion of his schooling, he joined the military in 1933 and was assigned to the Royal Canadian Engineers (RCE). He served at various Canadian military stations until 1939 when he was posted to the United Kingdom. He served in Belgium and Holland with 23 Field Company, RCE, and was serving a three-month tour of duty with 234 Field Company, Royal Engineers, when he was killed on 13 January 1945 during a minefield breaching operation in The Netherlands. Lieutenant William Harold Baird is buried at Bergen-op-Zoom Canadian War Cemetery, The Netherlands.
