This monument was erected to commemorate the English and Canadian soldiers who fought at this place against an American column, during the Battle of Trois-Rivières, in the context of the American Revolution. The battle took place a few years after "Confederation" and the Americans were defeated. On June 8, 1776, British troops, entrenched on the low ground near this place, under the command of General Simon Fraser, pushed back an American column commanded by General Thompson and inflicted severe losses.
