This memorial was dedicated to all those who fought in the First and Second World Wars and the Korean War. It was erected by the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 89 and the Corporation of the Town of Cochrane.
"Cochrane Jubilee Celebration draws crowds from all the north. Interesting and impressive was the dedicatory service in Memorial Park last Sunday afternoon, when the Park was officially opened and dedicated to the memory of the men from Cochrane and District who lost their lives in the Great War. Captain (Rev.) Sidney Lambert, well known to a large number of returned men, officiated in the place of Canon Scott, who could not come, in dedicating the Park and unveiling of the Cairn. Magistrate E.R. Tucker, who has been all along the moving spirit on the building of the Park, acted as chairman. Mayor Smith the first speaker, extended a welcome to the many visitors present. Other speakers included General Swift, Austin Neame, of Timmins, Capt, J.J. Ferry of Sudbury, Rev. Father Larocque and Capt. (Rev.) M.N. Osmand." The Cochrane Northland Post, Thursday, July 4, 1935.
