This tablet was erected in 1902 to honour Valleyfield parishioners who died in the First World War. The tablet was designed by Charles B. Chappell and J. M. Hunter, well-known architects from Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island. The funds were raised by the Valleyfield Ladies Aid.

The Valleyfield Presbyterian Church became Valleyfield United Church in 1925, and the building was moved to Montague in 1971, when it merged with Trinity United, Montague, and was renamed Hillcrest United Church.
