This street is named in memory of Sergeant Peter Morton Fleming, Royal Canadian Engineers.
Peter Morton Fleming was born on 13 January 1920 in Vancouver. The family moved to Toronto sometime before 1929 where Peter attended John Wanless Public School. In September 1933, he entered North Toronto Collegiate before transferring to Lawrence Park Collegiate in 1936. Shortly afterwards, he joined the Royal Canadian Engineers, serving at various Canadian military bases before proceeding overseas with the 1st Canadian Infantry Division. Stationed near London, England, Sergeant Peter Morton Fleming died as the result of an accidental fall on 5 October 1942 and is buried at the Brookwood Military Cemetery, south-west of London.
