Erected by the Historic Sites and Monuments Commission of Canada in 1926, this memorial is dedicated to the memory of Fort Three Rivers, a French colonial outpost during the seventeenth century.

UN FORT EN BOIS CONSTRUIT À CET ENDROIT EN 1634, MARQUE LE BERCEAU DES TROIS-RIVIÈRES QUI DEVINT UN DES CENTRES DU COMMERCE DES FOURRURES AVEC LES INDIENS. IL SOUTINT PLUSIEURS SIÈGES DE LA PART DES IROQUOIS ET FUT DÉMOLI À LA SUITE DU TRAITÉ DE PAIX CONCLU AVEC EUX EN 1668.

FORT THREE RIVERS

A WOODEN FORT BUILT ON THIS SPOT, IN 1634, BECAME THE CRADLE OF THREE RIVERS AND A CENTRE FOR FUR-TRADE WITH THE INDIANS. IT WAS BESIEGED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS BY THE IROQUOIS AND DEMOLISHED AFTER THE TREATY OF PEACE WITH THEM, IN 1668.
