This memorial commemorates the location where the foundation of Montreal was laid by Paul de Chomedey, Sieur de Maisonneuve. It was erected in 1926.

EN 1645 UN FORT DE 320 PIEDS
DE COTÉ QUI FUT REMPLACÉ TRENTE
ANS PLUS TARD PAR LE CHATEAU DE
M. DE CALLIERES, D'OU L'ENDROIT
PRIT LE NOM DE "POINTE-A-CALLIERES".
