This cenotaph, a bronze statue with stelæ, is dedicated to the citizens of the City of Lachine who gave their lives during the First and Second World Wars, and the Korean War.
This monument, sculpted by Lucien Sarra-Bournet and erected in 1925 by the City of Lachine, is dedicated to the citizens of Lachine who died during the First and Second World Wars and the Korean War. It was originally unveiled in St. Louis Park by Douglas Haig on July 27, 1925, the same day that he dedicated the Outremont memorial and visited three other memorials on Montreal Island. The Imperial Order of the Daughters of the Empire (I.O.D.E.) raised so much of the money for the Lachine sculpture, and the granite base was the gift of a businessman from Iberville, Georges Tremblay. The memorial was moved to the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 85/90 (3015 Henri-Dunant Street) in 1991 and later moved to its present location in Stoney Point Park.
