This cenotaph was erected in 1921, by the Red Cross Society of Glengarry, to honour those from this district who died in the First World War. It consisted of a single marble stele with a large brass plaque and was situated in front of the library.
The cenotaph was later updated with two new marble steles and the original brass plaque was refurbished. The second stele hounours those lost in the Second World War, Korean War and Afghanistan. It was relocated to the rear of the library on an elevated brick pad within a green space between the library and post office. Surrounding the memorial are lights, benches, a flag pole, and some landscaping.
