This memorial is dedicated to the memory of parishioner, Leland Stanford Westover, who was killed in action at Vimy Ridge while serving with the 38th Canadian Infantry Battalion, Canadian Expeditionary Force. It was erected by the Westover family in the Sutton Methodist Church.

In 1925, when the United Church of Canada was formed, the Sutton Methodist Church on Maple Street became the Calvary United Church. When the church closed in December 2014, the plaque was given to the Westover family who donated it to the Legion.
