At Grace Church on-the-Hill a stained glass window was dedicated in 1918 to the memory of Lieutenant Charles Arthur Bell, who died in the First World War. The window depicts crucified Christ and was designed by Robert McCausland Limited. Lieutenant Bell's cap badge appears in the lower right-hand corner of the window.
Charles was born on 2 July 1885 to Mrs. C.B. and Mr. W.A. Bell, in Toronto, Ontario. He listed his occupation as manufacturer upon enlisting with the Canadian Expeditionary Force on 7 June 1915. Initially with the Queen’s Own Rifles he later made lieutenant in the 58th Battalion. He was killed in action While fighting at the Somme on 8 October 1916.
