A window at Grace Church on-the-Hill was dedicated in 1921 to Lieutenant Lionel Esmonde Clarke, who was killed in the First World War. The window depicts the Pentecost and was designed by Robert McCausland Limited.
Lionel was the son of Lionel H. and Anne C.G. Clarke; born in Toronto, Ontario on 8 March 1894. He listed his vocation as “clerk” when he enlisted with the Canadian Expeditionary Force on 14 July 1915. He was a lieutenant with the 4th Canadian Mount Rifles when he was reported missing at Mount Sorrel and was later presumed dead.
