The Lieutenant Sinclair Johnston Baptismal Font was donated by his parents, Adam and Mary Isabella Johnston and unveiled on June 30, 1918, at Simpson Avenue Methodist Church. Lieutenant Johnston was killed in action on May 27, 1917, while serving with The Buffs (East Kent Regiment). 

Simpson Avenue Methodist Church joined the United Church of Canada in 1925. In 1973, it became the Metropolitan Community Church of Toronto.
