The MEAC Challenge Trophy was originally awarded to the unit achieving the best score in the Dominion of Canada Rifle Association winter indoor matches for the .22 calibre rifle. The trophy was first presented in 1936 and was open to all units, but it was later restricted to Reserve Force units only. The trophy was in continuous competition, less three of the war years, until 1962. It was re-instituted in 1977and is currently awarded to the Engineer Reserve unit with the best score on the annual Individual Battle Tasks C7 rifle classification practice.
