For fifteen years this metal horse was mounted, with saddle and cavalry boots reversed, on a wooden base. The memorial was one of two that stood in front of Ben Shortly's harness shop on George Street, an initiative of Reg Turner. They were erected by the Directors of the Peterborough Industrial Exhibition to commemorate the Peterborough county boys who died in the First World War.
