This memorial is dedicated to the British and Canadian military engineers. It was erected by the Royal Canadian Engineers and the Military Engineers Association. It commemorates the Military Engineers, who were major participants in founding the city of Halifax in 1749. It also honours the long association of Military Engineers with the port, fortress, and city of Halifax. It was unveiled June 18th, 1966 in Royal Artillery Park by Brigadier J.L. Melville, Colonel Commandant.
