This street is named in memory of Flight Sergeant Donald Joseph Navin.
Donald Joseph Navin grew up on Carfrae Crescent in London, ON and attended Tecumseh South Collegiate (also known as London South Collegiate Institute) and Beal Technical High School, before enlisting in the Royal Canadian Air Force in October 1940. Following the completion of his aircrew training as a bomb-aimer, he was assigned to No. 78 Squadron, Royal Air Force, flying Halifax bombers. On 10 August 1942, his crew was part of a bombing mission to attack Osnabruck, Germany. During the operation, his plane was hit by anti-aircraft fire and on its return to England, crashed in the North Sea. He was 25 years old. Flight Sergeant Navin is among the 3050 Canadian air personnel with no known graves, who are memorialized at the Runnymede Air Forces Memorial at Englefield Green, just west of Heathrow Airport, England.
