THE "NORSEMAN"

The "Norseman", designed by Robert Noorduyn in 1935, was one of the first aircraft created specifically to meet the needs of Canadian bush flying. Between 1936 and 1960 over 900 of the high wing monoplanes were built by Noorduyn Aviation Ltd. of Montreal. Many saw service with the R.C.A.F. and the U.S.A.A.F. during World War II, and the plane was flown commercially in 21 countries
but it was as the aerial workhorse of the postwar boom in northern Canada that the "Norseman" made its mark as one of the most successful aeroplanes ever designed and built in Canada.
