This point is named in honour and memory of John Pemmican, one of our honoured dead of World War II. Service No. 606523. Born on Lac Seul, fisherman and trapper. Killed in action in defence of his country while with the Royal Canadian Army, June 10, 1943.

The cairn was erected by the volunteers of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 139 and the Members of the Lac Seul Native Band Reserve No. 28.
