Erected by the Pictou Highlanders Memory Club, this memorial is dedicated to the Veterans and war dead of The Pictou Highlanders, an infantry battalion of the Canadian Army (Militia), and its previous units. The Pictou Highlanders was redesignated on 2 July 1920. On 12 November 1954, it was amalgamated with The North Nova Scotia Highlanders and the 189th Light Anti-Aircraft Battery, Royal Canadian Artillery and redesignated the 1st Battalion of The Nova Scotia Highlanders.
