This memorial was unveiled June 10, 1990 by the members of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 55 and is dedicated to those who served in the First World War, the Second World War and the Korean War. "The Legion cenotaph was constructed in the 1990's from beach rocks from the Catalone Beach. Although beach rocks, (or ships' ballast) were available in Port Morien, it was illegal to remove them, however, a few were taken from the Port Morien shore. Ron MacDonald, William MacKenzie (using his truck), Neil (Buddy) Nicholson, Gordie Butts, Joseph Thomas and Carl Kim from Tower Road, worked on the monument laying out the stones. Buddy was a stone mason and bricklayer. The stone heart inserted above the plaque was found on the Catalone Beach and is located in the cenotaph to this day."
