This art deco building opened on January 4th, 1939, after three years of construction. It features a replica of the Vimy Memorial, sculpted by Louis Leygue which pays tribute to the 60,000 Canadians who died in France during the First World War.

The Embassy of France, which is both an architectural masterpiece and a symbol of the privileged relationship between France and Canada featuring tapestries, bronze decorations, a mural and wall engravings. The first stone of this art deco-style building was laid by Prime Minister Mackenzie King on July 14th, 1936.
