Erected by the Rexton Lions' Club, this memorial is dedicated to the local war dead of the First and Second World Wars and the veterans of the Merchant Navy. The Cenotaph was constructed in 1979 and funding was provided by the Rexton Lions' Club on a site across from the Medical Clinic. It was relocated to the Rexton Municipal Park and re-dedicated with an unveiling ceremony. This monument includes a memorial plaque for the Merchant Marines who lost their lives in action. The plaque was donated by Mr. Joe Watson, originally from Bathurst, N.B. Funding for maintenance was provided by the Rexton Municipality and the Lions' Club.
