This plaque is located in the St. George Community Memorial Hall and commemorates those from the St. George and South Dumfries area who served in the Second World War and in Korea.  It was unveiled and dedicated on Canada Day, July 1, 2006 and lists over 245 names.  It is part of the South Dumfries Historical Society’s Memorial Plaque Project which involved the restoration of the plaque from 1925 for those from the area who served in the First World War. This plaque was commissioned by the South Dumfries Historical Society and placed on the front wall of the St. George Community Memorial Hall (see Veteran Affairs Canada Memorial # 35007-001).  It was unveiled by Claude Grandine and his wife Muriel Grandine (Hammond) both Second World War Veteran’s who are named on the plaque. The day also included Honour Guards from the Royal Hamilton Light Infantry and a parade of Veterans with the Argyle and Sutherlands of Hamilton Pipe and Drum. The Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum provided a fly over by a Harvard Trainer.
