These flags were presented to the Stormont Dundas and Glengarry Highlanders, by the citizens of Knokke, Belgium in memory of the “Glengarrians” who fought for the liberation of their city. 

The memorial consists of two framed flags affixed back-to-back and, produced especially for the occasion, a SDG Highlanders Battle Honours flag on which are inscribed the Battle Honours of the Battalion and a Belgium flag. 

The Stormont Dundas Glengarry Highlanders fought throughout the Scheldt and in October-November of 1944 took part in OPERATION SWITCHBACK. They were part of 9 Brigade, 3rd Infantry Divison that liberated Knokke, Belgium, as part of this operation.
