This memorial, erected by the Yarmouth County Historical Society in 1964, is dedicated to the memory of the United Empire Loyalists who settled in this area during and after the American Revolutionary War.

IN PROUD MEMORY OF THOSE UNITED EMPIRE LOYALISTS, THE MAJORITY OF THEM OF DUTCH ORIGIN WHO, DEFEATED AND DESPOILED, WERE COMPELLED TO SEEK REFUGE HERE FOLLOWING THE AMERICAN REVOLUTION. ARRIVING HERE, THE FIRST IN 1784, THEY ESTABLISHED NEW HOMES IN THE WILDERNESS AND HAVE MADE A MOST NOTEWORTHY CONTRIBUTION TO THE PROGRESS AND DEVELOPMENT OF THE PROVINCE AND NATION.
