This grey and pink granite cenotaph is dedicated to the memory of the Canadian Armed Forces from Vankleek Hill and District who gave their lives for world peace in the First and Second World Wars. A bronze plaque was later added to commemorate the Korean War.
The cenotaph was built in 1954 when the original Vankleek Hill Collegiate Institute was built. It remained in front of the institute at 5814 34 Highway until 2018 when it was moved by the Township to its current location in the renovated park.
