In Remembrance of
All Victims of Chemical Warfare

Remembering the horrors of chemical warfare on the battlefields of the First World War,
Canada took up the task of researching and developing defences against chemical
warfare in the 1930s. From 1941 to 1945, the battle to provide effective defence
against such weapons of mass destruction was conducted at both the
Experimental Station in Suffield, Alberta and the Chemical Warfare Laboraties in Ottawa
where military personnel participated in many hazards and secret trials.
Their efforts were unknown for many years. Their duty was exceptional
and finally recognized by the Canadian Government on February 19, 2004.
