This cross is dedicated to the Canadian soldiers who fought at Vimy, in the Pas-de-Calais (northern France), in 1917 and to the Canadian Expeditionary Force. It commemorates in particular the battle of Vimy Ridge, on April 9th, 1917.

This memorial cross erected in France after the battle of Vimy on April 9th, 1917 has been removed to Canada in August 1923 and restored in 1948.
