The War Memorial Children's Hospital was established in 1917 at the South Street site at Old Vic. The Imperial Order Daughters of the Empire raised money to build the facility, which opened in 1922 with a total of 60 beds. The Children's War Memorial Hospital sat abandoned for a number of years.
The City of London announced in 2020 it will sell off 55 acres of the old South Street Victoria Medical Services hospital land. What remains of the now abandoned Victoria Health Services Building and the War Memorial Children's Hospital. They will be sold off to make way for a new residential neighbourhood.
