The Windsor Star - News - June 1, 2009 92-year-old veteran helps dedicate Peace Garden: Wheatley legion branch 324's oldest Second World War veteran and one of the youngest members of the Canadian Armed Forces helped dedicate the Two Creeks Conservation Area's Peace Garden. Robbie Robertson, 92, served with the 30th Reconnaissance Regiment from 1943-45, and Aaron Bowman, 23, of Wheatley, is training as an infantryman in Alberta. Organizer Larry McDonald said the gardens will be expanded with more plantings and flowers, and will eventually link to the nearby Hike Metal Bridge and Memorial Grove. The Peace Garden is meant to commemorate Canadian Peacekeepers past, present and future, who have stood between the lines of opposing forces since 1956. Funding for the Peace Garden, which was dedicated Dec. 30, has come from service groups, businesses, the public and Chatham-Kent.
