The Wolfe-Montcalm Monument was unveiled on 8 September 1828, as requested by Governor Lord Dalhousie. It is dedicated to Marquis Louis-Joseph de Montcalm and General James Wolfe, who both died at the same battle but on opposite sides. The inscription on the top plaque translates as: "Their courage brought them the same end, the same fame; posterity, the same monument".

On April 12, 2010, Parks Canada historical restorers started dismantling the monument. They were assisted by Genivar, the engineering firm responsible for labelling and measuring the stones. The Wolfe-Montcalm Monument was rebuilt, mainly using new stones and restored its original beauty and sturdiness.
